Work Experience and Details
Nii Odai Laryea is a Director at MAPLE Consult. He holds a B.A (Hons)
Sociology/Geography from the University of Ghana (1980), an M.Sc. in Regional
Planning from the then University of Science and Technology (1985) and a certificate in Advanced Water Resources Management from the Italian University for Foreigners (1990).
He worked as a research officer with the then Water Resources Research Institute from
1986 to 1991. He subsequently served as the Community Development Expert on the
UNDP/GWSC Rural Water and Sanitation Project (1991–1996) and later on the Accompanying Measures for the Eastern Region and Rural Water Supply Project I with IGIP (1996–2001). He has been with MAPLE Consult since its inception.
Nii Odai has been involved in a number of WASH-related assignments across the
country.
Some of the key projects he has participated in include:
- Three Districts Water Supply Project (2006-2008), the Western Region
Sustainable Rural Water and Sanitation Project (2012-2015) - International Comparative Study of Models For Ghana’s Proposed National
Sanitation Authority (NSA) (2017-2018) - Tripartite Partnership Project (2011-2013)
- Operational Research Into Rural Sanitation (2017-2019) and
Preparation of the Rural Sanitation Model and Strategy (2011) and its revised
version (Review of the RSMS (2020 – 2023) etc. - DANIDA-funded Capacity Building for 13 districts in WASH for the Central
Region - Training in District Water and Sanitation Plan Preparation for 6 regions (2008-
2010)
