MAPLE Consult was engaged to support the formulation and design of the Sanitation Challenge
for Ghana (SC4GH), an initiative aimed at encouraging Metropolitan, Municipal, and District
Assemblies (MMDAs) to develop and implement innovative liquid waste management
strategies. The project involved presenting the concept of a competitive challenge to urban
sanitation stakeholders, securing buy-in from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural
Development (as it then was), and evaluating the feasibility and attractiveness of the proposed
challenge design for local authorities.
Key Services Provided:
1. Advised on the design and implementation of the Sanitation Challenge for Ghana,
including participation in national and regional consultations.

2. Established and maintained contacts with Ghanaian authorities to build support for the
Challenge and participated actively in its design and launch.

3. Supported the lead firm, IMC Worldwide, and consortium partners with the
identification, contracting, and management of the Implementation Agent,
Communication Agent, and Challenge judges.

4. Consulted with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD)
and MMDAs to identify suitable Implementation and Communication Agents for the
project assessment of entries by MMDAs

5. Participation in award ceremony

6. Act as co-author on paper(s)
